Weather forecast
You should always try to get a weather forecast before heading out from land, especially if going more than several miles from shore, as it is difficult to tell at a glance what winds will appear, due to large land masses, mountains and other geographical features. You can use your radio, Navtex or contact the Port Police who receive weather faxes several times a day for the area.

a. TELEPHONE

Via the phone line of the Athens Marine Meteorological Centre of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, one can obtain a forecast directly from the forecaster on duty for the sea area that one is interested in, on a 24-hour basis, by dialing 210 9699171. General weather forecasts are obtained from a pre-recorded message of the National Telecommunications Organisation of Greece (OTE), by dialing 14944.

b. RADIO

Regular Weather and Sea Bulletins for Shipping issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service are broadcast by the 1st Programme of the Hellenic Radio (ERA 1) in Greek, as are special forecasts and warnings, whenever issued. The frequencies and times of broadcast are mentioned below:
HELLENIC RADIO (NATIONAL NETWORK) (ERA 1)/DAILY/(AM) 7.29 KHz, (FM) 105.8 KHz, (FM) 91.6 KHz/06:05

Weather forecasts are also broadcasted by other state, private and municipal radio stations all over the country, on the FM band, after news bulletins.

c. TELEVISION

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service forecasts are announced on TV by professional Hellenic National Meteorological Service meteorologists, as well as by TV presenters. Greek public and private channels broadcast the weather forecast for the coming day at the end of the news bulletin. In addition, some channels broadcast a special forecast for the entire week.

Tourlos Marina berth Request
www.navily.com/port/tourlos-mykonos-port/1688

Tourlos Marina is located in the fascinating island of Mykonos, in Greece. Surrounded by beauty and tranquility, this port is the perfect berth booking choice for a relaxing vacation. Tourlos Marina welcomes pleasure boats of all sizes with modern facilities.

Mykonos Marina (known locally as the New Port) is a partly finished marina located around two kilometres north of the old harbour and town of Mykonos. It provides good shelter from the prevailing winds and is quiet, being some distance from the main town.

Here, you will access all the basic marina facilities you might require, as well as additional services such as internet, gas, side bunkering, laundry service. It is provided with two distinct entrance pints. The south entrance is marked by a red light while the northern entrance by a green light.

Tourlos Marina is a safe harbor where you can easily moor your vessel. The best-sheltered area for docking is the southern part. This lovely marina has an outstanding position. It is situated only 20 minutes away from the center of Mykonos, on foot.

You can easily access the main interest areas of Mykonos from Tourlos Marina. Moreover, you will find lots of tavernas, shops, and bars in the nearby. There are also plenty sailing routes to the Cyclades Islands you can check out as you depart from Tourlos Marina.

Visiting yachts normally berth stern/bows-to or alongside in the two basins immediately to starboard on entering the marina. The basins consists of a short breakwater extending from the shore and protecting the marina from SE and two parallel concrete jetties 100 metres and 200 metres further into the marina. Ground chains are in place for laid lines in both bays. Laid lines are in service on the South side of the North quay and near the root of the south quay. Once these are taken, yachts need to use their anchors (with great care as there are mooring chains along both sides of the basin). A safer alternative is to go alongside on the shore side of the basin. Depths alongside here are greater than 3 metres. Depths along the jetty and breakwater range from 4.25 metres at the root to 4.5 metres at the end. The basin is the least sheltered part of the marina and gusts will be experienced with strong northerly winds. The basin is also subject to some swell, especially in strong S winds. Boats will also tie stern to the outside of the breakwater. Depths are greater than 3 metres from the mid point out.

There are a further 30 laid moorings for larger (20-25 metre) yachts on the marina’s south west quay (on the inside of the section where the cruise liners berth), but these are usually filled with local power boats and a visiting yacht will be lucky to find a berth here.
